Difficult relationship with the body

At La Reposada, Gestalt Therapy is the fundamental pillar of my therapeutic approach. This humanistic method focuses on the here and now, helping you become aware of what you feel, think, and do in the present moment. It is a path to understand how your emotions and experiences influence your life, offering you tools to respond authentically to the challenges you face.

How does a conflicted relationship with the body manifest?

The tension with the body does not always present itself in an obvious way. Sometimes, it is expressed in subtle details that go unnoticed in day-to-day life:

  • Body disconnection: Feeling like living from the mind, without registering the signals from the body. Difficulty recognizing hunger, fullness, fatigue, or pain.
  • Extreme self-demand: Rigid relationship with food, exercise, or rest. Perfectionism in appearance or physical performance.
  • Constant comparison: Measuring one's body against external standards, with recurring dissatisfaction.
  • Chronic physical tension: Muscle pain, stiffness, digestive problems, or alterations in breathing related to bodily stress.

There is not just one way to experience this, but they all have something in common: the need to reconcile with the body in order to live with more presence and freedom.

"The body never lies."

— Martha Graham

Healing the relationship with the body: a process of listening and acceptance

It is not about changing the body, but about transforming the way we observe it. The psychosomatic therapy and bodywork we offer at La Reposada are designed to help you:

  • Reconnect with the wisdom of the body: Through body awareness, movement, and breathing, you will learn to interpret its messages and needs.
  • Release emotional blocks: Many physical tensions are expressions of unprocessed emotions. Exploring these memories through the body facilitates their integration.
  • Explore self-image with kindness: We question learned judgments and develop a more compassionate view of our own appearance.
  • Restore the body to its natural function: Beyond how it looks, the body is an instrument of expression, pleasure, and presence in the world.

Each process is unique, and at La Reposada we work from a personalized approach, integrating tools from Gestalt therapy, dance movement therapy, somatic work, and relaxation techniques to facilitate a genuine reconnection with the body.
