How does a conflicted relationship with the body manifest?
The tension with the body does not always present itself in an obvious way. Sometimes, it is expressed in subtle details that go unnoticed in day-to-day life:
- Body disconnection: Feeling like living from the mind, without registering the signals from the body. Difficulty recognizing hunger, fullness, fatigue, or pain.
- Extreme self-demand: Rigid relationship with food, exercise, or rest. Perfectionism in appearance or physical performance.
- Constant comparison: Measuring one's body against external standards, with recurring dissatisfaction.
- Chronic physical tension: Muscle pain, stiffness, digestive problems, or alterations in breathing related to bodily stress.
There is not just one way to experience this, but they all have something in common: the need to reconcile with the body in order to live with more presence and freedom.
